5 Packing Tips for the Holidays
by Courtney Obeirne
Here are 5 packing tips that will help ensure your trip home for the holidays will go as smoothly as possible. So go ahead and grab any of your ROAM Luggage, and let's get packing!
1. The Holiday Outfit
When thinking about packing your holiday outfit, think about comfort and ease of wear. Try looser pants or materials with a bit of stretch to make playing with a youngster on the floor as easy as having second helpings of your family's famous stuffing.
This outfit should be on trend with season's themes - for the men, pack your fashionable sneakers. We love these Gucci sneakers with contrasting red and green foil snakeskin embossed back tabs and the signature Gucci webbing. For women, we love ankle boots with a heel.

2. Athletic Clothing
A work-out during your time away is a great way to keep your energy high and your mood elevated. Even if you aren't close to a Barry’s Bootcamp or Soul Cycle class, you can always take a brisk walk through the mall. When packing for the holidays, throw in your favorite workout outfit, and make an effort to get your heartbeat elevated from something other than the typical family squabble.

3. Required Reading
Make sure to pack reading materials for your flight or drive. We highly suggest Pachinko, finalist for the National Book Award. This novel is the second by Korean-American author Min Jin Lee. Published in 2017, Pachinko is an epic historical novel following a Korean family who eventually migrate to Japan, and it is one of the first novels written for an adult, English-speaking audience about Japanese-Korean culture.
4. Suggested Listening
If you are driving, consider downloading the audiobook version of Becoming by Michelle Obama, which she narrates herself. The former First Lady talks about her life and role in the public spotlight with incredible honesty. Her current book tour is filling concert stadiums around the world like the Barclays Center in NYC.
5. The Hostess Gift
No gift may be more important than the hostess gift. It’s important to bring something to hand your host to thank him or her for all of the hard work they have done to provide the holiday meal. We are fans of the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay duo from Flowers Winery.
Flowers 2016 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay is medium yellow in color. Aromas of straw, lemon verbena and honeysuckle mingle with layers of lemon meringue and lychee. Upon entry are flavors of lemon curd, honeydew, and hints of star fruit and wet stone, balanced with a touch of fine grained tannin. The crisp finish is countered with a spicy note of white pepper and lingers with coastal minerality
Flowers 2016 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is medium ruby in color. Aromas of cranberry, deep raspberry and Santa Rosa plum are woven with top-notes of anise and coastal redwood spice. The palate is perfectly balanced with flavors of cherry and peach pith, broad tannins and textures of stone fruit flesh, together complimenting the bright acidity that leads into a long, fresh finish.
